This software is designed for development purposes, not production systems. As such, it is not 'secure' - but vsAgent will only expose files that it is configured to (by directory and extension) although requests to vsAgent are not authenticated. Likewise, vsConsole does not require authentication to view those files.
No - vsConsole and vsAgent are implemented in Java, but they are used to view and tail any text files - it doesn't matter what application or platform produced them. vsConsole is downloaded as a WAR file, deployable to a Java Application Server such as Tomcat, Glassfish, Websphere, or Weblogic. vsAgent is a java application that can be installed and run as a service (Windows) or a daemon (Unix/Linux). If you are not familiar with Java Application Servers, don't worry - you can still be up and running with a few simple steps.
More functionality will be added to vsConsole over time. If you have thoughts about what you'd like to see added, then send them to 'paul at vamonossoftware.com'.
